Stochastic Algorithms for Spin Dynamics and Mixed Quantum-Classical Theory

We study a general type of linear evolution equations defined in a high-dimensional Hilbert space. Suppose the evolution operator can be decomposed into two parts: one is an easy part which can be numerically solved in a low-dimensional subset of the Hilbert space, and the other is a difficult part but can be related to the low-dimensional set in a stochastic way. A general stochastic method is proposed to solve this type of equations, and we apply the method to some models in the multi-body spin dynamics and mixed quantum-classical theory. We will also discuss the relations between the current method and the existing surface-hopping method.
